Adobe Acrobat Reader Download/Install

Downloading and installing Adobe Acrobat 8.0

Print these instructions.

Go back to the Newsletter or Enrollment page and click on "Get Acrobat Reader". This will take you to the Adobe download site.

1. At Adobe - Select an Acrobat Reader version:
    Language - English
    Platform - Win98 or Win95
    Check - Include option for searching PDF files (longer download).
2. Enter your name and e-mail address.
    Uncheck - Notify me about Adobe software offers, unless you want them to.
    Uncheck - Allow others to send me special offers, unless you want them to.
3. Download and install:
    version 8.0
    download file size is approximately 6.6 MB
4. Click on the RED Download button.

    The next screen will be a Save As: screen
    Remember where Acrobat is being downloaded to on your computer and the file name. Write it down.

Note: If you have a previous version of Acrobat installed on your computer, uninstall it before trying to install this new version.

When the download is finished, the browser will return to the original Adobe download screen. At this point, disconnect from your ISP (the internet).

If you haven't already uninstalled any older versions of Acrobat, do it now.

When you are ready to install the new version of Acrobat do the following:
   1. Disable your Virus protection software.

   2. Open your Windows Explorer so you can see the files on your computer.

   3. Go to the location Acrobat was downloaded to.

   4. Double click on the downloaded file. This will start the install process.

   5. If there is an older version on your computer you will see a Warning screen that tells you that you must uninstall the old version before proceeding.

   6. Otherwise, a Welcome screen will pop up. Just click on the Next button.

   7. The next screen will tell you where the program wants to install Acrobat. It should be fine to just click on Next.

   8. Once the installation is completed you'll see a Thank You screen. Click on OK.

After installation: Re-enable your Virus program. Double click the Acrobat Icon on your desktop. You'll see a license agreement screen next. Just click on Accept. Acrobat is now ready to use.

Restart your connection to the Internet and you should be able to start using Acrobat to read .pdf files.
